The sea Nymphs are daughters of Nereos and Doris, living in a palace on the bottom of the sea. Of the dii marini, they are merry beings who like to sing and dance. Known by name are Amphitrite, Thetis,and Galateia, who even had their own temples. Over all, there are between 22 and 50 Nereides (the exact number is impossible to establish, as Nereides are frequently confused with spring and river Nymphs).
